ERP Software for Textile Manufacturing
Published 7 November 2026 · Cirumtech ERP team
Textiles are Pakistan's largest export industry, from spinning and weaving to processing, home textiles and garments. They are also among the hardest businesses to manage on spreadsheets. A single style can have dozens of size and color combinations, materials are bought by weight or length but sold by piece, wastage is constant, and buyers expect accurate, on-time shipments.
This article looks at the specific challenges of textile and garment manufacturers and what an ERP system should do to handle them.
The challenges textile businesses face
Thousands of item variants
One garment style in five sizes and eight colors is forty separate stock items. Multiply that across a season's range and manual stock control becomes impossible.
Different units at every stage
Yarn is bought in kilograms or bags, fabric in meters or kilograms, accessories in pieces or gross, and finished goods are sold in pieces, dozens or cartons. Conversions between units are a constant source of errors.
Lots, shades and batches
Fabric from different dye lots can vary in shade, so lots must be tracked and kept together in production. Buyers may reject shipments that mix shades.
Wastage and rejection
Cutting wastage, process loss and rejected pieces directly reduce margin. If they aren't recorded, the real cost of each order is unknown.
Large, shift-based workforces
Stitching and processing units employ many workers across shifts, with overtime, attendance machines and statutory deductions such as EOBI and social security.
Order-based costing and tight margins
Export orders are often priced on thin margins. Knowing the actual material, labour and overhead cost per order is the difference between profit and loss.
What a textile ERP should do
| Need | What to look for |
| Variants | Products with size, color and style variants under one parent item, with stock tracked per variant |
| Lots and batches | Batch-wise purchasing and stock, so lots and shades can be traced and kept together |
| Multiple warehouses | Separate stores for yarn, fabric, accessories, work in progress and finished goods |
| Purchasing control | Purchase orders with approvals, goods receipt against orders, vendor returns and debit notes |
| Costing | Material consumption against production, with wastage recorded, and overhead allocation |
| Workforce | Multi-shift rosters, biometric attendance, overtime and payroll with statutory deductions |
| Finance and tax | Multi-currency for export receipts, sales tax and withholding tax, real-time ledgers |

Where to start
Textile companies get the fastest return by getting stock and purchasing under control first: a clean item master with variants, opening stock by warehouse and lot, and purchase approvals. Once stock data is reliable, production costing and payroll follow naturally. Our ERP implementation guide describes how to phase the rollout.
